A.G.O.S. and D.B.O.

My sister always came up with silly things. She also would make up silly acronyms.  For instance, we are riding along in the car and she suddenly exclaims that we need an A.G.O.S.  Instead of spelling it out she pronounced it.  She said, “we need an agos.”  My younger brother and I asked at about the same time what that was.  She very matter of factly said it was an animal getter off the street, like we should have known.  She goes on to ask us if we saw the dead animal on the road.  She explained that an agos would take care of it. We laughed, but we now still call it an agos when we see a dead animal on the road.

Another one was a D.B.O.  she wanted to have that job, she said.  Of course, we asked.  It stood for, “dead body outliner.”

Okay, now that you have that bit of information, on to the story.  Our daughter wrote a murder/mystery play for the dinner party we had for Wessie.  Every guest had a part.  For some reason, I was going to be murdered. (I am beginning to wonder about my family’s thoughts toward me as this is the second play they have had where I am murdered!)

Anyway, before everyone arrived, the d.b.o had me get on the floor so they could outline me with masking tape.  Not only did I have to fall to the floor, I had to land in that precise position that they outlined.  Fast forward, dinner was great and the play was fun and funny.  Everyone enjoyed playing their parts.

Why did I write this? Well, after all of those years, my “dead body outline” is still there! The tape pulled the finish off of the hardwood floors.  Haha.  I say it is a memory, but . . .

We have tried everything short of just redoing the floors.  I say keep the memory there.
